Welcome to ZNutrition

Welcome!

Let’s get this out of the way now. This isn’t a blog with recipes, discussion about “cancer-fighting” foods or supplements, or conspiracy theories about a “secret dietary plan your doctor won’t tell you about.” Let’s get real – that’s not really what you’re looking for. This is an evidence-based nutrition resource for cancer patients and survivors. From my experience, cancer patients and survivors have many questions and want someone to take the time to answer them. Often they are so overwhelmed that they don’t even know what questions they should be asking and would love a guiding and experienced hand to navigate them through this journey. I get it, and I have started ZNutrition to be your experienced guide. You can learn more in the about me, but in a snapshot, I have been studying nutrition and cancer for over 10 years, have been a registered dietitian for 5 years, and I have over 4 years teaching nutrition in higher education.

You are managing multiple doctor’s appointments, trying to maintain your relationships, and keep up with work, family obligations, the usual chores, etc. Life without cancer is often stressful, and what you are facing now may make you feel like you are in a tailspin. Unfortunately, I see to many individuals stressed and fearful that the food that they are eating is “bad,” and they are frequently worried about trying to make the “right” choices. This is exhausting limited mental energy and it is not sustainable, especially since eating is something you’ll need to do every day, multiple times a day, for the rest of your life.

The goal of ZNutrition is to empower people through education, hence the tagline “Know More. Fear Less.” Many people want to do the most they can to fight this battle, recover, or prevent the cancer from coming back. The problem is that many are ill equipped or too strapped for time to navigate the endless and complicated information available online, in books and magazines, or from the growing population of “experts.” It is increasingly difficult to sift through the information to find reputable and legitimate resources. With my experience in research, practice, and education, I will cut through the BS and teach you, not tell you, how to implement the latest nutrition science in your life.

I hope this blog provides you the knowledge and strategies to be fueled to fight and thrive during and after cancer treatment.

Thank you for reading, and I can’t wait to get to know you more!
